Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about Easymony — the affordable, private personal finance app.
01What is Easymony?
Easymony is a personal finance and budgeting app for iOS, Android, Windows, and Mac. It helps you track expenses, manage budgets, and achieve financial goals with an offline-first architecture — all your financial data is stored locally on your device in a secure SQLite database. The free version is powerful enough for most users; Premium at $0.99/month removes all limits and unlocks advanced features.
02Is Easymony free?
Yes, Easymony has a generous free tier that includes unlimited transactions, 14 budget categories, 12 subcategories per category, 5 accounts, 1 budget plan, 3 scheduled payments, PDF exports, ZIP backups, multi-currency support, biometric lock, and visual analytics — all with zero ads and zero data collection. Premium at $0.99/month removes all limits and adds advanced features like zero-based budgeting, goal tracking, net worth tracking, Google Drive auto-sync, and desktop preview.
03How much does Easymony Premium cost?
Premium is $0.99/month (price may vary slightly by region). That's less than the cost of a cup of coffee. Premium removes all limits — unlimited categories, subcategories, accounts, budget plans, and scheduled payments — plus unlocks zero-based budgeting, advanced goal tracking, net worth tracking, advanced analytics, Google Drive auto-sync backup, and desktop read-only preview for Windows and Mac.
04Does Easymony collect or sell my financial data?
No. Easymony uses an offline-first architecture. All your financial data — every transaction, every budget — is stored locally on your device in a secure SQLite database. We don't have servers for core data, so we can't see, access, or sell your data. There are no analytics, no trackers, no crash reporters, and no ad SDKs. Premium users can optionally back up to Google Drive (encrypted), but even then, we never access your data.
05Can I use Easymony without an internet connection?
Yes! Easymony works 100% offline. You only need internet to download the app from the App Store or Google Play, or to share PDF reports and sync backups if you choose to. All core features — transaction tracking, budgeting, analytics — work perfectly in airplane mode or remote areas with no connectivity.
06What are the free tier limits?
The free tier includes: 14 budget categories max, 12 subcategories per category max, 5 accounts max, 1 budget plan, and 3 scheduled payments max. Everything else is unlimited — transactions, PDF exports, ZIP backups, multi-currency support, biometric lock, and visual analytics. For most individual users, these limits are more than enough.
07What are subcategories and how do they work?
Subcategories let you organize each budget category into more specific groups. For example, an 'Insurance' category can have subcategories like Health Insurance, Car Insurance, Home Insurance, Life Insurance, Travel Insurance, Device Insurance, Business Insurance, Pet Insurance, Premiums, Claims, Renters Insurance, and Disability Insurance. Easymony uses a two-level structure: Category → Subcategory. Free users get up to 12 subcategories per category; Premium users get unlimited.
08What is zero-based budgeting and does Easymony support it?
Zero-based budgeting is a method where you assign every dollar of income to a specific category — so your income minus your expenses equals zero. Easymony supports zero-based budgeting as an optional toggle in Premium. Unlike YNAB which forces this method, Easymony gives you gentle warnings if you don't assign all your income, but never blocks you. You choose your budgeting style.
09How does goal tracking work?
Easymony supports multiple goal types including savings goals, debt payoff goals, emergency fund goals, and more. You can set target amounts, deadlines, and track progress over time. Premium users get advanced goal tracking with deadline support and more goal types. The app helps you visualize your progress toward each financial goal.
10What is net worth tracking?
Net worth tracking automatically calculates your total net worth from all the accounts and data in Easymony. It adds up your assets (savings, cash, etc.) and subtracts your liabilities (credit card debt, loans) to show your net worth in real-time. Premium users also get historical net worth trends to see how their financial health changes over time.
11How many accounts can I create?
Free users can create up to 5 accounts. Premium users get unlimited accounts. You can create accounts for cash, bank accounts, credit cards, savings, investment accounts, or any custom type. Each account can have its own opening balance, and you can track them all separately to see your complete financial picture.
12Can I undo or delete a transaction if I make a mistake?
Yes. You can undo or delete any transaction within the current month. If you enter the wrong amount or select the wrong category, just undo or delete it and re-enter. There's no time limit within the current month — fix errors instantly without worrying about messing up your records.
13How do I add a transaction quickly?
Easymony is designed for one-tap entry. Pin your most-used categories to the home screen, tap the category, enter the amount, and you're done. That's it. The interface is intentionally minimal — clear navigation, visual category icons, and the fewest possible steps. It's so simple that anyone, regardless of age or tech experience, can use it.
14What is the desktop preview for Windows and Mac?
Premium users get a read-only desktop app for Windows and Mac that lets you view your financial data on a larger screen. It syncs with your mobile data via Google Drive (encrypted), so you can review budgets, transactions, reports, and analytics on your computer. It's read-only — all edits are done on your mobile device.
15How does Google Drive backup sync work?
Free users can manually export encrypted ZIP backups and store them anywhere (Google Drive, email, USB). Premium users get automatic Google Drive sync — your data is encrypted and backed up to your Google Drive automatically, so you never have to think about it. Restoring from Google Drive is just one tap.
16How do I backup my data if I change my phone?
Free users: Navigate to Settings > Backup & Restore > Export Backup to generate a complete ZIP file of your database. Save it to Google Drive, email it to yourself, or copy it to a USB drive. To restore, go to Settings > Backup & Restore > Import Backup and select your ZIP file. Premium users: Your data is automatically backed up to Google Drive, so just log in on your new device and restore.
17Does the app support biometrics?
Yes, you can secure your financial records using your device's built-in biometric authentication (Face ID or Fingerprint) or a custom PIN code, ensuring only you can access the app. This adds an extra layer of protection even if your phone is unlocked.
18Which currencies does Easymony support?
Easymony supports over 150 world currencies. You can set a primary currency and manage manual exchange rates for accounts in other currencies without relying on unstable third-party APIs. This makes it ideal for expats, travelers, and anyone managing finances across multiple currencies.
19What platforms does Easymony support?
Easymony is available on iOS (App Store), Android (Google Play), Windows (read-only preview, Premium), and Mac (read-only preview, Premium). The mobile apps work identically on both platforms, and Premium users can sync data between mobile and desktop via Google Drive.
20How is Easymony different from Mint, YNAB, or other finance apps?
Unlike Mint (which collects and sells data), YNAB (which costs $14.99/month), or most other finance apps, Easymony starts free, works 100% offline, and collects zero data. Premium at $0.99/month is a fraction of competitors' prices. Easymony also offers unique features like subcategories for granular tracking, one-tap transaction entry, zero-based budgeting (optional, never forced), and desktop preview — all without ads.
21Can I export my transaction data?
Yes. Easymony lets you generate professional PDF reports of your transaction history, filtered by date range, category, or account. You can share these via email, WhatsApp, or save them to your device. For full data backup, you can export a complete ZIP file of your entire database.
22Does Easymony link to my bank account?
No. Easymony uses manual entry, which means you input your transactions yourself. This is a deliberate design choice for privacy and security — by not linking to your bank, we eliminate the risk of your banking credentials being compromised and ensure your financial data never leaves your device.
23Is my data safe if I lose my phone?
Your data is protected by your device's security (passcode, biometrics) plus Easymony's optional PIN/biometric app lock. Free users should export regular ZIP backups and store them in multiple locations. Premium users get automatic Google Drive sync, so your data is always safely backed up in the cloud (encrypted).
24Who built Easymony?
Easymony was created by Tony Stacks (Sohail), an independent React Native developer who was frustrated with finance apps that either charge high subscriptions or sell user data. The app is a passion project built on the belief that financial tools should be accessible to everyone — affordable and private.
25How do I set up scheduled payment reminders?
In Easymony, you can create scheduled payments for bills, rent, subscriptions, and any recurring expense. Set daily, weekly, monthly, or custom recurrence intervals. Easymony will notify you before each payment is due so you never miss a deadline. Free users get up to 3 scheduled payments; Premium users get unlimited.
26Will Easymony ever add automatic transaction detection?
Yes. We're currently testing SMS-based transaction detection that will automatically detect and log transactions from bank SMS alerts — no manual entry needed. This feature is coming to both iOS and Android in an upcoming update, and will be available to Premium users.
27Is Easymony easy enough for beginners or older users?
Absolutely. Easymony is designed primarily for young adults (18-35) but its simplicity makes it accessible to all ages. The one-tap entry system, visual category icons, clear navigation, and minimal steps make it intuitive enough that even kids can use it. There's no complex setup, no confusing menus, and no learning curve. Just tap a category, enter an amount, and you're done.
