Creating a backup is simple: navigate to Settings > Backup & Restore > Export Backup
Easymony generates a ZIP file containing your complete SQLite database, including every transaction, category, subcategory, account, budget plan, scheduled payment, and app setting you've configured. The entire process takes under two seconds. The ZIP file is generated entirely on your device — it never passes through our servers or any third-party service. You have complete control over where this file goes and who can access it.
Once generated, you can share this ZIP file anywhere — save it to Google Drive, email it to yourself, copy it to a USB drive, send it via WhatsApp, or store it on a second device
The choice is entirely yours. We recommend storing backups in at least two different locations. For example, keep one copy on Google Drive and another on a physical USB drive at home. This way, even if one storage method fails, you still have a redundant copy of your financial data.
To restore a backup, navigate to Settings > Backup & Restore > Import Backup and select your ZIP file
Easymony will replace its current database with the backup and restart the app. All your transactions, categories, accounts, budgets, and settings will be exactly as they were when you created the backup. It's important to note that restoring a backup overwrites your current data completely. If you've entered new transactions since your last backup, those will be lost unless you create a new backup first. Always backup before restoring.

Here's a backup schedule we recommend for all users
Free users: export a manual backup at the end of every month. Set a recurring reminder in Easymony's scheduled payments feature to remind you on the last day of each month. Premium users: enable Google Drive auto-sync and still do a manual export once per quarter as an additional safety net. The combination of automatic sync and periodic manual backups gives you maximum protection with minimal effort.

When Easymony receives an update from the app store, your data is preserved — app updates don't touch your local database.
